No fewer than 35 personnel of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have successfully completed their further studies under a scholarship scheme introduced by the Managing Director, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, since he assumed office three years ago.

The beneficiaries studied various disciplines, including Motor and Electrical Mechanics as well as Road Traffic Management, to strengthen the agency’s workforce and improve service delivery.

Speaking while receiving the graduates at the agency’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano, Hon. Faisal said the scholarship programme forms part of the institutional reforms introduced to reposition KAROTA as a modern and professional traffic management agency.

He noted that the days when KAROTA personnel were viewed as individuals without formal education or as thugs were over, stressing that the agency is now focused on professionalism, discipline, and capacity building.

The Managing Director assured staff that the agency would continue to support personnel willing to pursue further education in fields relevant to its operations.

He congratulated the graduates for their commitment and perseverance, assuring them that their newly acquired qualifications would be considered during future promotion exercises.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Mahmud Haido, congratulated the graduates and pledged that more opportunities would be created for staff seeking to improve their academic and professional qualifications.

He added that the agency would work with the Office of the Kano State Head of Civil Service to formalise the graduates’ new qualifications and appropriate career progression.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Yahaya Suleiman Bechi expressed appreciation to Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the KAROTA Managing Director, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, for providing the opportunity to further their education.

He pledged that the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme would be effectively applied in the discharge of their duties for improved service delivery.
