The Katsina State chapter of the Coalition of African Democratic Congress (ADC) was officially inaugurated over the weekend, with hundreds of supporters in attendance and the distribution of membership cards to newly registered members.

The event, held in Katsina, witnessed the defection of members from various political parties into the ADC, as the party made a bold statement about its growing influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration, a representative from the party’s national headquarters, Lawal Batagarawa, described the occasion as “historic” and commended the large turnout. He said the emergence of the ADC was a response to the “failures” of the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

“The ADC is a child of necessity, formed to salvage this country from the bad leadership of the Tinubu-led administration,” Batagarawa stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the Katsina State Chairman of the party, Usman Musa, expressed optimism that the ADC would clinch victory in 2027. He emphasized that the coalition was not founded for the personal interest of any political group, but rather for the collective good of Nigerians.

He assured new members that they would be treated equally and fairly like existing party members, and urged them to spread the party’s manifesto across every part of the state.

Also speaking at the event, the party’s leader in the state, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, cautioned Nigerians against re-electing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. He described the APC as a “disaster to Nigeria,” accusing the ruling party of plunging the country into economic hardship.

“In two years, the Tinubu-led APC administration has brought nothing but untold hardship and economic crisis,” Inuwa said.

In his remarks, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), also threw his weight behind the ADC, predicting a better performance by the party in the next general election.

“By the special grace of Allah, the ADC will defeat the insincerity of the APC-led administration in Katsina State. I am overwhelmed seeing this crowd joining the party,” Tsiga said.

Our correspondent reports that supporters from all 34 local government areas of the state attended the inauguration, signalling growing momentum for the ADC in the North-West region.
