The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Baba Malam Wali Shettima, has called for unity among party members and continuity in governance following his emergence as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wali made the call while delivering his acceptance speech on Friday in Damaturu shortly after emerging victorious at the APC governorship primaries.

The APC candidate described his emergence as a collective victory built on faith, loyalty and political goodwill, expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for what he termed a successful and peaceful process.

He commended the Minister of Police Affairs and former Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam as well as Governor Mai Mala Buni for their support, leadership and commitment toward sustaining the unity of the party in the state.

Wali also praised APC executives, stakeholders and aspirants who stepped down for him during the primary process, describing them as “true patriots of Yobe politics” whose sacrifices strengthened the party ahead of the next election cycle.

According to him, the period of contest within the party has ended, urging members and supporters to close ranks and work together to ensure victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.

“The contest is now over,” he declared, calling on party faithful across the state to unite for the common goal of sustaining APC leadership in Yobe State.

The governorship candidate equally appreciated security agencies and members of the media for their roles in ensuring a peaceful, transparent and violence-free primary election process across the state.

He pledged to consolidate on the policies and achievements of the present administration under Governor Buni while also drawing valuable lessons from previous APC-led governments in the state.

Wali further urged supporters to mobilise support for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He ended his address with a message of hope and unity, saying, “Together we can make it, and together, the victory is ours.”
