No fewer than 100 persons with disabilities in Gombe State have received wheelchairs from the Family Trust and Care Foundation in collaboration with the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre.

The wheelchairs were presented to the beneficiaries at a ceremony in Gombe as part of efforts to enhance their mobility, independence and overall quality of life.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Dr Zainab Jamil Isiyaku Gwamna, said the initiative was designed to restore hope, promote dignity and strengthen the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.

Gwamna said the intervention went beyond the distribution of mobility aids, describing it as a demonstration of compassion and a commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.

According to her, every individual deserves the opportunity to live with dignity and participate fully in society, regardless of physical ability.

She commended the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre for partnering with the Foundation to identify deserving beneficiaries and ensure the successful implementation of the programme.

Gwamna also praised donors, volunteers and other partners whose contributions made the intervention possible. She called on governments, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to increase investment in programmes that empower persons with disabilities.

In her remarks, the founder of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre, Sandra Nanbam Yilgwan, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the gesture, describing the donation as timely and life-changing for many of the beneficiaries.

Some beneficiaries who spoke after receiving the wheelchairs thanked the Foundation and its partners, saying the support would ease their movement, improve their livelihoods and boost their confidence.

The event attracted government officials, development partners, representatives of disability organisations, traditional rulers and community leaders, who commended the Foundation for its efforts to promote disability inclusion and social welfare in Gombe State.
