The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that a fatal motor accident along Girei Road claimed six lives.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said preliminary reports indicated that six people died in the crash.
He said the victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were confirmed dead.
According to him, police operatives from the Girei Divisional Police Headquarters, Federal Housing Division, and Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore the normal flow of traffic.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.
The Command appealed for calm and urged motorists to drive with caution, obey traffic rules, and avoid overspeeding to prevent further loss of lives.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness said accidents occur frequently along the Girei–Yola Road, with lives reportedly lost almost every week.
The eyewitness called on the government to urgently take measures to address the causes of the recurring accidents and improve safety along the road.
