The Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has commissioned the newly constructed Kayan Gwari Market, fulfilling a long-standing promise to traders and residents in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Sunday, Governor Idris recalled the condition of the market prior to its reconstruction, noting that it was previously an open and unsuitable space for commercial activities.
He explained that the decision to rebuild the market followed appeals from traders who requested government intervention to provide a more conducive environment for their businesses.
The Governor stated that the new market was constructed to improve the livelihoods of traders, particularly those dealing in vegetables and other food items, by providing secure and well-organized stalls where they can safely store their goods and conduct business without disruption.
He emphasized that the project reflects his administration’s commitment to supporting economic activities at the grassroots level and ensuring that citizens benefit directly from government initiatives.
Governor Idris also expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project and formally commissioned the market for public use.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Kayan Gwari Market, Umarun Basiru, expressed appreciation to the Governor for fulfilling his promise.
He described the development as a significant boost to traders, noting that the new market will greatly enhance business activities and improve their standard of living.
The highlight of the event was the inspection of the newly constructed stalls by Governor Idris, accompanied by top government officials and other dignitaries.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior government functionaries, political leaders, and members of the trading community, who commended the Governor for his people-oriented projects.
