Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been honoured with the prestigious Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to promoting the legal profession and strengthening the justice sector in Kano State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.
The award was presented during the Forum’s Second Annual Summit held in Kano, where legal practitioners, senior advocates, academics, judicial officers and other stakeholders gathered to discuss issues affecting the legal profession and justice delivery in Nigeria.
Presenting the award, Barrister Oyinkansola Badejo Okunsanya, SAN, said Governor Yusuf was selected in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, support for the activities of the Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum, and sustained investment in strengthening the justice sector.
She commended the governor’s respect for the rule of law, commitment to judicial independence, and policies aimed at improving access to justice in Kano State.
In his response, Governor Yusuf thanked the Forum for the honour, describing the award as both a privilege and a call to greater service.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting justice, fairness and the rule of law, while pledging continued support for the judiciary and collaboration with legal practitioners to enhance justice delivery and strengthen democratic institutions.
