The newly elected member of the House of Representatives for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has pledged to pursue development projects and programmes that will have a direct impact on his constituents during his remaining months in the National Assembly.
Kallamu made the pledge while speaking to journalists shortly after emerging victorious in the September 19 bye-election conducted to fill the vacant seat of the constituency.
He said his immediate priority would be to ensure effective representation and attract meaningful development projects to Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas.
According to him, the mandate given to him by the electorate comes with the responsibility to deliver tangible dividends of democracy and improve the well-being of the people.
“I will use the remaining period of my tenure to pursue projects and programmes that will bring development closer to the people. My priority is effective representation and ensuring that the people feel the impact of their mandate,” he said.
The lawmaker-elect said he would work with relevant stakeholders and government agencies to attract projects capable of addressing the developmental needs of the constituency.
He also called on the people of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency to remain united and support efforts aimed at advancing the development of the area.
Kallamu expressed appreciation to the electorate for entrusting him with their mandate, describing his victory as a collective achievement of the people across the three local government areas.
He also commended Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, as well as leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their support and contributions to the party’s success in the election.
He thanked APC supporters, campaign teams, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders who worked for the success of the party during the electioneering period.
Kallamu assured his constituents that he would remain accessible and committed to representing their interests, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He emerged victorious in the bye-election held on September 19 to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat following the death of the former member representing the constituency, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
