The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to urgently provide relief assistance to victims of the devastating floods caused by heavy rainfall in Bichi Local Government Area.
The floods reportedly claimed lives, displaced several families, and destroyed homes and other valuable property.
The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by the member representing Bichi Constituency, Hon. Lawan Shehu Bichi, during plenary on Friday.
The session was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore.
While deliberating on the motion, lawmakers expressed deep sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and to residents affected by the disaster.
The Assembly urged the Kano State Government to direct the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to immediately provide relief materials and other humanitarian assistance to the affected communities to ease their suffering.
The lawmakers also stressed the need for prompt government intervention to support displaced families and help affected residents recover from the impact of the flooding.
