Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has welcomed a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) members who defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), describing the move as a significant boost to the ruling party in the state.

The defectors, led by Malam Bala Ladani Gwarzo, announced their decision on Sunday during a visit to the Deputy Governor’s office in Kano.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor noted that the decision of the defectors was a clear demonstration of confidence in the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“This defection is not just a political move, but a collective effort to bring positive change to the people of Kano State. We encourage you to remain committed to the ideals of the NNPP,” the Deputy Governor said.

Bala Ladani, who spoke on behalf of the group, said their action was motivated by Governor Yusuf’s people-oriented programmes, assuring that they would work for the success of the party at all levels.

According to the Deputy Governor’s spokesperson, the new members were drawn from 10 wards in Gwarzo Local Government Area and parts of neighbouring councils.

In his remarks, the NNPP leader in Gwarzo Local Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Getso, revealed that more defections were expected in the coming weeks as several prominent figures were already in talks with stakeholders.

Similarly, the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr. Mani Tsoho, assured the defectors of full integration into the NNPP, adding that the party was built on inclusiveness and unity.

He commended stakeholders for their role in attracting new members and expressed optimism that the NNPP would continue to consolidate its political dominance across the state.
