The Kano State Government has commended the member representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, for distributing tractors, vehicles, motorcycles, sewing machines and cash to constituents.
The deputy governor, Murtala Sule Garo, who represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the empowerment programme held at Kwankwasiyya City on Friday, described the initiative as a contribution towards improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.
Garo said the intervention would complement the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and the Kano State Government in promoting agricultural development and improving the welfare of residents.
He particularly commended the lawmaker for extending support to farmers, women and young people, saying the beneficiaries could use the items to improve their economic activities.
In his remarks, Doguwa said the programme was organised to appreciate party members and supporters for their contributions and commitment at ward and local government levels.
He said the beneficiaries were drawn from Burumburum, Baburi and Dalawa wards in Tudun Wada Local Government Area, which he described as important political strongholds.
The lawmaker disclosed that the empowerment programme included the distribution of 10 mechanised tractors, luxury vehicles, motorcycles and sewing machines, as well as cash donations ranging from N20,000 to N200,000.
He added that the cash donations and other empowerment interventions involved more than N25m.
Doguwa urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the items, saying their proper utilisation could create opportunities for other people to benefit from similar interventions.
He said the programme was also designed to support the agricultural and economic development priorities of the Tinubu administration and the Kano State Government, particularly in the areas of farming, women’s economic empowerment and youth development.
The event was attended by the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, and Muntari Ishaq Yakasai, among other government officials and political stakeholders.
Garo and Doguwa also urged APC members and supporters to sustain their support for the party, emphasising the need for unity and stronger grassroots mobilisation.
