…Urges committee to submit report within one week

The Kano State Government has inaugurated a high-powered investigative committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the alleged involvement of the State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug dealer, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, inaugurated the committee on Sunday at his office, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The committee is chaired by Barrister Aminu Hussain, Special Adviser to the Governor on Justice and Constitutional Matters.

Other members include Barr. Hamza Haladu, Barr. Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, Maj. Gen. Sani Muhammad (Rtd.), Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata, and Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, who will serve as Secretary.

While inaugurating the committee, the SSG charged members to carry out their assignment with fairness, diligence, and objectivity, stressing that the outcome must be free from bias and political sentiment.

“In order to ensure a thorough investigation, His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has constituted this committee to investigate the matter with fairness and deliver justice to prevent future occurrences,” the SSG stated.

He further directed the committee to submit its findings and recommendations within one week.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Barrister Aminu Hussain, expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him and his team.

He assured that the committee would conduct a thorough, accountable, and transparent investigation.
