Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has assured development partners that funds allocated to the state will be used judiciously, with accountability as the guiding principle of his administration.

Yusuf, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani, stated this on Monday when a delegation from the Gates Foundation, GAVI, UNICEF, WHO, CHAI, and eHealth Africa paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Kano.

“We welcome partnerships and collaborations, and I assure you that every kobo allocated to the state will be spent prudently,” he said. “Since we assumed office in 2023, accountability has been the bedrock of our government.”

He commended the partners for their interventions in the state, including support for 28 health facilities, and pledged continued collaboration to improve healthcare delivery and other development sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, GAVI’s Senior Country Manager for Nigeria, Jessica Crawford, said the visit was to explore further partnerships, highlight achievements, and address challenges.

She stressed the importance of transparent fund management, saying, “We believe in mutual accountability between the government and its partners. Kano is a critical partner for us. If a project is successful in Kano, it will succeed across Nigeria.”
