The Head of Service of Kano State, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, has represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at a special ceremony organised by Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) to honour the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa.
The event was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Rulayya U.V. Sulaiman, and made available to journalists.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hajiya Bilkisu described the honour as well-deserved, noting that Professor Haruna Musa is a distinguished son of Kano whose contributions to scholarship, public service, leadership and intellectual development have brought honour to the state.
She said his achievements and commitment to academic excellence remain a source of inspiration to younger generations.
The Head of Service reaffirmed the Yusuf administration’s commitment to transforming the education sector, noting that more than 39 per cent of the state’s budget has been allocated to education.
She added that the government had recruited 5,000 BESDA volunteer teachers and issued additional appointment letters to teachers on permanent and pensionable terms to address manpower shortages.
Hajiya Bilkisu congratulated Professor Haruna Musa on the recognition and expressed confidence that his continued leadership and contribution to education would further strengthen human capital development in Kano State.
