The Director-General of the Kano State Corporate Security, CP Muhammad Bello Magaskiya (retd.), has commended the Kano State Government for its support to security agencies and efforts to strengthen security across the state.
CP Magaskiya made the commendation during a special interview to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, where he praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as his continued efforts to address security challenges in Kano.
He said the government’s support for private security organisations and other security formations had contributed to improving the security situation in the state.
“We commend His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his efforts to tackle security challenges in our state and for supporting the various security organisations operating in Kano,” CP Magaskiya said.
He added that his organisation, alongside other security agencies, had been working to complement the efforts of the government and conventional security forces in maintaining peace and protecting residents.
According to him, the improved security situation in Kano was also reflected in a reduction in certain forms of crime, including mobile phone theft.
CP Magaskiya pointed to training programmes conducted at the organisation’s facility in Gabasawa Local Government Area, where personnel from various security formations in Kano had received training.
He said one of the major programmes was the training of about 4,000 personnel under the Phone Snatching Prevention and Response Initiative, aimed at tackling mobile phone theft, which he said had previously affected residents in parts of the state.
“Before the establishment of this formation, phone snatching was a serious problem in the city.
“However, following the deployment and graduation of trained personnel, together with the efforts of other security formations, we have seen a significant improvement,” he said.
CP Magaskiya also appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to provide additional modern security equipment to enable personnel to carry out their duties more effectively.
Among the equipment requested were modern search and detection devices, including advanced flashlights and other technologies that could assist personnel in identifying and apprehending suspects during operations.
He further announced that another security formation was expected to arrive in Kano on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to receive specialised security training at the organisation’s facility.
CP Magaskiya congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the people of Kano State on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and wished the country continued peace, security and development.
