The Executive Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area, Hon. Hamza Sule Mai Fata, has presented appointment letters to 137 newly recruited teachers under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Permanent and Pensionable Scheme and the Abba Gida Gida BESDA Cohort V Programme, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education and strengthening the teaching workforce in the local government.
The event, held at the Bichi Local Government Secretariat, marked another milestone in the Kano State Government’s efforts to reposition the education sector through the recruitment of qualified teachers and sustained investment in human capital development.
It attracted senior government officials, education administrators, traditional rulers, political leaders, parents, and other stakeholders, who commended the initiative as a significant step towards enhancing teaching and learning across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Mai Fata congratulated the beneficiaries on their successful recruitment, describing their appointments as a rare privilege and a serious responsibility to shape the future of society.
He urged the new teachers to uphold the confidence placed in them by demonstrating dedication, discipline, professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
“Your appointment is more than an opportunity for employment; it is a call to national service. You have been entrusted with the responsibility of educating future leaders, and I urge you to discharge that responsibility with honesty, commitment, and excellence.
“Let your conduct both inside and outside the classroom reflect the noble values of the teaching profession,” the chairman stated.
Representing the Provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Bichi, the Deputy Provost, Dr. Kabiru Musa, assured the beneficiaries of the institution’s unwavering support. He announced that
whenever the need arises, the college would organise free induction programmes for the newly recruited teachers to equip them with the professional knowledge and practical skills required to excel in the classroom.
He also commended the Kano State Government and the Bichi Local Government Council for their outstanding commitment to expanding access to quality education and creating employment opportunities for qualified teachers.
In his goodwill message, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu, applauded the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for making education one of its foremost priorities.
He described the recruitment exercise as a clear demonstration of the government’s determination to build a stronger educational system and ensure that every child has access to quality learning.
Prof. Armaya’u also commended Hon. Hamza Sule Mai Fata for his transparent leadership, prudent management of public resources, and unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Bichi Local Government Area.
According to him, the chairman has continued to distinguish himself through impactful initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people.
As a further demonstration of his support for the beneficiaries, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu donated N200,000 to the newly recruited teachers to assist them as they begin their careers.
He said the gesture was aimed at easing their transition into public service and encouraging them to remain committed to excellence in the teaching profession.
Also speaking, the Galadiman Kano, represented by Alhaji Abbas Bayero, urged parents and the newly recruited teachers to appreciate the enormous opportunity provided by the government.
He reminded the beneficiaries that many qualified applicants had aspired to secure similar appointments but were not successful, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them through dedication, hard work, and exemplary conduct.
He further emphasised that the future of society depends largely on the quality of teachers entrusted with educating the younger generation.
He therefore called on the new teachers to remain focused, uphold the ethics of the profession, and make meaningful contributions to the advancement of education in Kano State.
The ceremony concluded on a joyful note as beneficiaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, government officials, and other guests offered prayers for the continued success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Hon. Hamza Sule Mai Fata.
They also expressed appreciation for their steadfast commitment to promoting quality education, creating employment opportunities, and advancing sustainable development in Bichi Local Government Area.
