Troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have successfully rescued Mrs. Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, who was abducted by bandits alongside her husband a few weeks ago.

The rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations conducted by troops under Operation FASAN YAMMA.

According to a statement issued by Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, sustained offensive operations and mounting pressure on the criminal elements forced the bandits into retreat.

Troops eventually made contact with the kidnappers at Tunga Village, leading to the successful recovery of Mrs. Abubakar.

The statement disclosed that during the encounter, the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing due to the overwhelming pressure from the advancing troops.

She was immediately evacuated and is currently receiving treatment at a military hospital, where she is responding positively to medical care.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring her full recovery and stated that all necessary support is being provided to her family during this difficult period.

The military also pledged to continue ongoing operations to track down and neutralise the perpetrators, while intensifying efforts to rid affected communities of terrorists and other criminal elements, not only in Katsina State but across the country.
