The N1.8 trillion Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Road project is expected to strengthen agricultural supply chains, create jobs and stimulate commercial activities across Niger State and neighbouring communities.

In a news release issued to our reporter, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndache, said the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the remarks during the project’s flag-off ceremony in Bida.

Idris said the road would improve connectivity, ease the transportation of agricultural produce and link farming communities to major markets, thereby opening up economic opportunities across the region.

He noted that improved road infrastructure would support the movement of farm produce and enhance commercial activities in communities along the route.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating the project, describing infrastructure development as an important factor in promoting economic growth.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, also highlighted the Federal Government’s infrastructure development programme.

He defended the ongoing Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project, explaining that its route had been extended by 400 kilometres to align with the East–West Road.

The Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora road project is expected to improve transportation and market access for farmers and businesses when completed.
