The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and former Commissioner of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Hajiya Salamatu Suleiman Hussaini, has commended the Kebbi State Government for the high-quality infrastructure projects being executed under the leadership of Governor Comrade Nasir Idris.

Hajiya Salamatu made the remarks while receiving the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team on a courtesy visit to her residence in Abuja.

She recalled her recent visit to Kebbi State alongside the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, for the commissioning of the NHRC State Office.

“I was privileged to accompany the Minister of Justice to Kebbi to commission our Commission’s office.

“We also inspected the ultra-modern State Secretariat, and the commendation it received from members of the delegation made me proud,” she said.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, the NHRC Chairperson said the delegation also toured the state capital.

“We drove around the city and saw the streets and the general ambience of the state capital, which greatly impressed us. We returned feeling proud,” she added.

Hajiya Salamatu expressed confidence that Governor Idris has made remarkable progress, particularly in the education sector.

She disclosed that her non-governmental organisation, the Alkali Hussaini Foundation, is partnering with the Kebbi State Government to strengthen teachers’ capacity through training programmes.

She also praised the state government’s investment in agriculture, noting that the provision of free farming inputs has enhanced the socio-economic well-being of the people.

The NHRC Chairperson further revealed that discussions are ongoing with Governor Idris on the establishment of a training institute for manpower development in economic and related fields.

She explained that the institute would be facilitated through the New Nigerian Development Company (NNDC), where she serves as a board member.

Hajiya Salamatu also congratulated Governor Comrade Nasir Idris on what she described as his remarkable achievements and developmental strides in Kebbi State over the past three years.
