The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon. Christopher Eweh Agbe, has commended the Hausa Fulani and Muslim Community Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Prince Bassey Otu’s 2027 re-election for its efforts in promoting unity, political awareness, and humanitarian services across the state.
Hon. Agbe gave the commendation on Wednesday during a sensitisation visit and free medical outreach organised by the group at the Ogoja Local Government Council Headquarters.
The event also featured the endorsement of all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state.
The council chairman praised the group’s commitment to community development and its support for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
He assured the group of the council’s readiness to support its activities whenever the need arises, stressing that programmes focused on healthcare and the well-being of the people deserve government encouragement.
Earlier, the Director-General of the group, Alhaji Nasiru Gombe, explained that the organisation was established as a support structure for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the decision to visit the Northern Senatorial District was aimed at sensitising Muslim communities and residents ahead of the elections while also providing medical support to the people.
Alhaji Gombe urged residents of the district to take advantage of the free medical outreach, which provided screening for blood pressure, malaria, and typhoid, alongside the distribution of drugs.
He noted that the initiative was in line with Governor Otu’s “People First” agenda, which prioritises the welfare and well-being of citizens.
Speaking at the event, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Support Groups, Hon. Clements Asanye, commended the mobilisation efforts of the organisation.
He said the combination of healthcare support and grassroots engagement represented an effective way of connecting with the electorate.
“This is exactly the kind of political movement that will make our electorate come out en masse and vote for APC.
“When you touch the health of the people and also talk politics, that is true grassroots mobilisation. The Governor is proud of you,” Asanye said.
In his welcome address, the Northern Senatorial District Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Abdulkareem Adamu, thanked the delegation for choosing Ogoja as the centre for the outreach.
He disclosed that members from Obudu, Yala, Bekwarra, and Obanliku Local Government Areas converged in Ogoja for the sensitisation programme.
