From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina

A non-governmental organisation, Gwagware Foundation, has declared that Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has fulfilled his campaign promises through the execution of impactful projects across all 361 wards in the state.

Chairman of the Foundation, Yusuf Aliyu Musawa, made the declaration during a two-day retreat organised for local government liaison officers, media aides, and media assistants. The event was held in collaboration with the Katsina State Government and the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management.

Musawa noted that the Radda administration has implemented numerous development projects that have significantly improved the living conditions of people, particularly in rural areas.

“The retreat was organised to reawaken participants to their responsibility of enlightening the public about government policies and programmes. It is also aimed at strengthening working relationships between liaison officers, media assistants, and media aides,” he said.

Speaking at the retreat, Special Adviser on Local Government Inspectorate, Lawal Rufai Safana, urged media aides and assistants to step up their efforts in publicising the achievements of the Radda-led administration.

“With just two years left before the end of Governor Radda’s tenure, you must intensify efforts to showcase the government’s accomplishments,” Safana said, calling on the state government to make adequate budgetary provisions to support the performance of media personnel and liaison officers.

He commended the organisers for their foresight and urged that the retreat be sustained for long-term impact.

In his remarks, Rector of the Institute, Babangida Ahmed Zayyad, advised participants to uphold the ethics of journalism and refrain from spreading fake news that could create unnecessary tension in the state.

The theme of the retreat was “Strengthening Liaison and Media Roles in Local Governance for Effective Stakeholders Engagement and Service Delivery.”

Our correspondent reports that university dons presented technical papers during the sessions to enhance the professional competence of participants in their respective roles.
