From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto

Ahead of the forthcoming elections, 244 councillors from the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State, under the platform of the National Council of Councillors Forum of Nigeria, have purchased a N50 million nomination form for the re-election of Governor Ahmad Aliyu.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, the Sokoto State Chairman, Hon. Nura Umar Goronyo, said the decision was driven by the quality of governance being experienced across the state.

He presented a dummy cheque of N50 million to the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna S.G. Adiya, for onward delivery to the governor on Monday at the party headquarters in Sokoto.

According to him, as grassroots leaders closest to the people, the councillors were impressed by the scale of developmental projects and human capital initiatives executed by the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration.

“The purchase of this form is a manifestation of our appreciation for the good works of the current government,” he said.

“We are highly satisfied with the programmes, initiatives, and policies of the administration. I can confidently say that no one in Sokoto today is dissatisfied with the government, except those who are not objective in their assessment,” Goronyo added.

He also expressed confidence in other aspirants seeking elective positions under the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the forum is comfortable with their leadership credentials.

Responding, the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Hon. Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, described the gesture as a demonstration of unity and support for the governor.

He said the development reflects the confidence reposed in the governor by grassroots leaders across the state.

“As those closest to the people, your endorsement clearly shows that the governor’s achievements are being felt at the grassroots. We assure you that he will do even more if re-elected in 2027,” Adiya stated.
