The Transforming Education System at State Level (TESS) Project has distributed brand-new motorcycles to all 34 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) in Katsina State to strengthen school monitoring and supervision.
The intervention is aimed at improving the mobility of education officials and ensuring regular, effective and timely monitoring of schools across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Katsina State TESS Coordinator, Binta Abdulmumini, said the initiative was in line with the project’s objective of strengthening education system management, accountability and service delivery.
She said effective school monitoring was critical to ensuring that investments in education translated into improved teaching and learning outcomes.
According to her, the motorcycles would enable monitoring personnel to reach schools more regularly, assess teaching and learning activities, identify challenges and facilitate timely interventions.
Mrs Abdulmumini said TESS was focused on supporting the state to build a stronger, more efficient and responsive education system through improved supervision, planning, accountability and institutional capacity.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles strictly for official assignments, particularly school monitoring, and ensure their proper maintenance.
The coordinator commended the Katsina State Government for its continued support towards strengthening education monitoring and supervision at the grassroots.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Kabir Magaji, described the intervention as significant to improving school supervision across the state.
Dr Magaji said regular monitoring was essential to improving teachers’ performance, pupils’ attendance and the overall quality of basic education.
He urged the LGEAs to deploy the motorcycles effectively to facilitate regular school visits, supervision and reporting, stressing that the facilities should be used for their intended purposes.
The intervention is expected to strengthen the capacity of education authorities to monitor schools more effectively and respond promptly to challenges affecting teaching and learning across Katsina State.
