The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has intensified inspections of ongoing school projects in Kano State, as part of final preparations for the commissioning of newly constructed Bilingual Schools across the state.

During a visit to the Bilingual School in Kiru under the Kiru Local Government Education Authority, the Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), Mr. Razak Olujuwon Akinyemi, said the inspection formed part of pre-commissioning activities aimed at assessing buildings, facilities and other infrastructure in the school.

The statement was signed by Balarabe Danlami Jazuli, Director of Social Mobilization, Kano SUBEB.

Mr. Razak expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of work done so far, noting that preparations for the school’s official commissioning had reached an advanced stage.

He commended the Kano State Government for its continuous supervision and commitment to ensuring compliance with approved standards.

He further urged parents, local stakeholders and the host community to take ownership of the school by safeguarding its facilities and maintaining a conducive learning environment.

According to him, community involvement remains crucial to sustaining the project and ensuring it serves future generations.

In a separate exercise, another UBEC team led by Engineer Sadiq Said, Director of Physical Planning, inspected a similar Bilingual School project in Ganduje Town.

Engineer Sadiq said he was impressed with the quality and standard of the work executed. He recalled visiting the site two years earlier and described the level of progress recorded since then as highly commendable.

He added that the building had reached the finishing stage, including external works, indicating that the project was nearing full completion.

The inspections, according to UBEC, are part of efforts to ensure that all Bilingual Schools being constructed in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank, the Federal Government and the Kano State Government meet required standards before being opened to the public.
