The Zamfara State Government has clarified that funds accessed under the World Bank’s State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme are being judiciously utilized to promote economic growth and improve the business environment across the state.
The clarification was made by Governor Dauda Lawal through his Deputy, Mallam Mani Mummuni, during the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) national townhall and state engagement tour held in Zamfara.
The engagement formed part of a nationwide stakeholders’ meeting aimed at assessing the progress and implementation of the SABER Programme across states.
The Deputy Governor said strengthening the state’s business climate remains a key priority of the administration, noting that the government has continued to provide infrastructure and reforms that address the needs of business communities.
“SABER seeks to strengthen the implementation of business-enabling reforms. The Zamfara State Government has commenced system strengthening of the business-enabling environment across its agencies.
“In line with the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal (Gamjin Gusau), efforts have been made in providing infrastructure and utilizing all funds drawn from the World Bank SABER Programme for growth and development,” he said.
Mallam Mummuni disclosed that the state government had constructed four small claims courts in Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Gummi, and Talata Mafara to ensure faster resolution of commercial disputes and improve confidence among investors and business owners.
Speaking during the event, leader of the PEBEC North-West tour, Barrister Jafar Shu’aibu, emphasized the importance of understanding the investment lifecycle and creating a better experience for investors operating in the state.
Meanwhile, Zamfara State PEBEC Focal Person and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Sani Bukkuyum, called on stakeholders to provide practical solutions that would support government efforts toward building a resilient and inclusive economy.
