A large crowd of supporters gathered on Saturday at the Ikom Township Stadium in Cross River State, as the “The Prince Is Coming” movement formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement, which claims a support base of about 1.5 million people, drew party leaders, National Assembly members, political appointees, and stakeholders from all 18 local government areas of the state.
The gathering was marked by strong expressions of loyalty and commitment to the re-election of both leaders.
Addressing the crowd, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and leader of the movement, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, said the endorsement campaign, themed “The Prince Is Coming Again,” demonstrates renewed strength and unity among supporters despite previous political challenges.
He described the development as a turning point in the state’s political journey.
Supporters filled the stadium and called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, including house-to-house campaigns, ahead of the May 18 primaries and the 2027 polls.
They emphasised the need for peaceful, issue-based engagement and cautioned against misinformation and divisive politics.
Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, who moved the motion for the endorsement, praised the organisers for spearheading the initiative.
He said the achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Otu, especially in economic reforms and infrastructure development, justify their re-election, and pledged to rally support across his constituency.
In a similar vein, Ambassador Sunny Abang, State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the country is gradually recovering under President Tinubu’s leadership.
He highlighted Governor Otu’s strides in infrastructure, improved aviation links, and ongoing efforts to reclaim state assets and reduce debt.
The event concluded with a unified call by party stakeholders for sustained support and coordination to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
