The Grand Khadi of Katsina State and Chairman of the State Sharia Commission, Professor Muhammad Kabir Abubakar, has called on Muslims across the state to use the occasion of 1st Muharram, the beginning of the Islamic New Year, to pray for the restoration and sustenance of peace in Katsina State.
In a statement issued to newsmen, Professor Abubakar described 1st Muharram as a significant day in the Islamic calendar and advised Muslims to dedicate the day to seeking Allah’s forgiveness, mercy and blessings.
He congratulated Muslims in Katsina State, Nigeria and across the world on the commencement of the new Islamic year, while praying for unity, peace and progress in the Muslim Ummah.
“The Katsina State Sharia Commission congratulates Muslims across the world on the occasion of the 1st Muharram, the beginning of the Islamic calendar. As we celebrate this important day, we pray for Allah’s abundant blessings and forgiveness,” he said.
The Grand Khadi further urged residents of Katsina State to use the occasion to offer special prayers for lasting peace, security and development in the state.
“We urge the people of Katsina State to use this day to pray for the sustenance of peace and continued progress of the state,” he added.
Professor Abubakar commended the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for recognizing the importance of the day by declaring it a public holiday annually.
He assured that the State Sharia Commission would continue to discharge its responsibilities of promoting Islamic values and ensuring that Sharia principles guide the day-to-day affairs of Muslims in the state.
The Grand Khadi also prayed for continued peace, prosperity and development in Katsina State and the nation at large.
