The Chairman of Gharri Local Government Area of Kano State, Honourable Hashimu Garba Maisabulu, has declared that the local government remains firmly in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
Maisabulu made this assertion while speaking with a team of journalists in his office, where he highlighted the developmental achievements of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, particularly in rural local government areas.
According to him, Governor Yusuf’s policies on rural development and the modernisation of local government headquarters have significantly transformed Gharri Local Government Area.
He cited the modernisation of the local government secretariat as one of the notable achievements of the state government, explaining that the facility meets international standards and is equipped with 24-hour solar-powered electricity.
He also noted that the secretariat has a reliable water supply system, with water available across different parts of its premises.
The council chairman further highlighted the completion of a five-kilometre road project by Governor Yusuf, saying the project has transformed the local government headquarters into a modern urban centre.
He added that the installation of streetlights along the road has improved the area’s appearance and enhanced visibility at night.
Maisabulu also commended Governor Yusuf for proposing the construction of 50 houses in each local government area along the five-kilometre roads, describing the initiative as a significant step towards beautifying rural communities across Kano State.
He explained that the governor’s housing policy had attracted national attention, noting that the Federal Government had adopted a similar initiative following discussions at a meeting of
Commissioners for Lands and Housing from the 36 states, held in Sokoto State.
According to him, the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Housing, under the leadership of Engineer Rabi’u Darma, agreed to emulate Governor Yusuf’s housing initiative by constructing 100 houses in each of the 774 local government areas across the country.
The Gharri council chairman further expressed optimism that residents of his local government and neighbouring areas, including Makoda and Dambatta, would soon overcome the challenges of inadequate potable water supply following the completion of the ongoing water supply projects.
He also disclosed that Yusuf Maitama Sule College of Education was 100 per cent completed, with students currently engaged in academic activities at the institution.
In addition, he highlighted the construction of feeder roads and the renovation of several schools by the local government council, with the approval of Governor Yusuf.
Maisabulu expressed confidence that the ongoing development projects would strengthen public support for the governor, describing him as a leader committed to the development of Kano State.
He maintained that Governor Yusuf deserves a second term in office, arguing that continuity between the state and local governments would provide an opportunity to consolidate the achievements recorded so far and deliver more development projects across the state.
He also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, reiterating his confidence in the APC’s political strength in GHARRI Local Government Area.
