From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina
A socio-political group, Arewa 4 Asiwaju, aimed at promoting the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the northern part of the country, has been inaugurated in Katsina State.
The group was inaugurated on Sunday afternoon at the Farms Hotel, Katsina, by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma, who also doubles as the group’s state coordinator.
Speaking at the event, Rabe said the group was established after high-level consultations among some public office holders from the northern part of the country who are part of President Tinubu’s government.
He said the major aim of the group is to build upon what the Office for the Coordination of Northern Projects is doing by taking the policies and programmes implemented by Tinubu’s administration to the nooks and crannies of the region.
According to him, “The major aim of Arewa for Asiwaju is that there is a government office called the Office for the Coordination of Northern Projects of this government.
So, that office has the specific task of putting together all that this government has done in northern Nigeria.
“Now, that office also felt it wise that it’s not only to coordinate the activities of the government in northern Nigeria, but to also pull out an organisation that will go to all parts of northern Nigeria and tell the people of northern Nigeria what this government has done for northern Nigeria.
“That’s where the acronym Arewa for Asiwaju came from,” he said, adding, “We are here principally to inaugurate the Katsina State Coordination Committee.
“We have selected very important personalities of the trusted audience to come to the committee today.
“No one in this committee just came without being spoken to. And when we speak to you, we tell you about the organisation, where it was formed, who started it, and what we are doing.”
Rabe assured that, as the state coordinator of the group, he would work closely with its members to ensure that it achieves its objectives across the state.
