A frontline figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State, Hon. Haruna Yahaya Kadana, has urged the leadership of the party to recognise and accommodate members who remained steadfast during the party most challenging period.
Kadana an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituency and Chairman of the ADC Candidate Forum in Kano State, made the appeal while addressing party leaders, supporters and stakeholders.
He said party faithful who stood firmly with the ADC during the 2023 general elections, despite limited resources and internal difficulties, should not be overlooked as the party continues to grow and attract new political heavyweights.
Reflecting on the party’s struggles in 2023, Kadana recalled that many individuals distanced themselves from the ADC at a time when its future appeared uncertain.
He noted, however that committed loyalists stayed back, sustained the party’s presence and took its message to towns, villages and communities across Kano State.
According to him, their sacrifices were driven not by personal gain but by dedication to the party and concern for the welfare of the people.
He welcomed the recent entry of prominent politicians into the ADC, describing the development as a major boost capable of strengthening the party structure and improving its electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While commending the growing popularity of the party, Kadana stressed that new entrants should recognise the sacrifices of those who built the platform when it lacked influence and resources.
He said those joining the party today met members who had already laid the foundation through commitment, sacrifice and years of perseverance.
The ADC chieftain therefore called for fairness, urging the leadership to give long-standing members a sense of belonging, involve them in strategic consultations and provide them with opportunities within the party structure.
He maintained that justice remains the bedrock of unity, noting that when fairness prevails it strengthens trust, deepens cooperation and positions the party for victory.
Kadana also appealed to fellow aspirants from the 2023 electoral cycle to close ranks, unite their supporters and protect their political relevance through wisdom and collective action.
He warned that in politics, those who fail to organise and prepare adequately may be left behind as momentum builds toward the next elections.
He further urged all ADC members in Kano State to embrace unity, mutual respect and clean politics, expressing confidence that the party has the capacity to become a formidable political force in Kano State and across Nigeria.
Kadana concluded by praying for unity, progress and success for the party as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 elections.
