The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has completed plans to the conduct of local government election come 13th July 2024 in the state.
In press conference, the Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Mohammed Umar told journalists in his office in Yola over his preparedness.
According to Umar, the notices of the election into the offices of chairmen and councillors shall be published at the ADSIEC headquarters to be transmitted to local government offices.
ADSIEC Chairman added that the timetable and scheduled of activities and timelines for the exercise will be released within the next two weeks.
He noted that, the commission’s mandate to organise, conduct and supervise election is in the fulfillment of the constitution following the expiration of the tenure of the former council chairmen and councillors.”
It is not quite long that, at about April this year that all 21 local government areas in Adamawa state have rounded their tenure in various offices as Council chairmen and councillors.
However, this is not unconnected with the Attorney General of the federation, Chief Lateff Fagbemi is emphasizing on the local government autonomy.
