The Kano State Independent Election Commission (KANSIEC) has announced the schedule and guidelines for the upcoming local government elections, which will take place from August 15th to November 30th, 2024.
The Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Sani Lawal Malumfashi, emphasized that the elections are a crucial part of actualizing grassroots democracy in the state.

September 6th to midnight on November 29th, 2024
Party Primaries and Submission of Candidates
September 19th to September 30th, 2024

On or before October 28th, 2024

Prof. Malumfashi noted that the timeline is designed to allow ample time for all stakeholders, including the Commission, to procure necessary materials and conduct voter education campaigns.
He assured that KANSIEC is committed to organizing a free and fair election and called for the cooperation of all stakeholders.
He also highlighted the prohibition of posting campaign materials on government buildings and places of worship, warning that parties involved in political thuggery or violence would face disqualification.
