Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) converged at the Kano State House of Assembly to show support for Murtala Sule Garo following his nomination as the new Deputy Governor during his screening by an ad hoc committee of the House.
The seven-member committee, headed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butu Butu, received the nominee, who was accomplished by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, members of the House of Representatives, former local government chairmen, party executives, and other supporters.
Speaking shortly after the screening exercise, Hon. Garo reiterated his readiness to contribute his quota towards moving the state forward, describing the administration’s “Kano First” policy as a meaningful initiative.
He commended members of the State Assembly, particularly the screening committee, for their leadership qualities, and expressed gratitude to the state governor for the opportunity to serve.
In their separate remarks, the Senator representing Kano South Senatorial Zone, Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, advised the screened nominee to remain dedicated and committed to promoting unity among party members in the state.
Similarly, the member representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for choosing Murtala Sule Garo as his deputy, expressing confidence that the move would help unite APC members ahead of future elections.
