The Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Kabiru Muhammad Maude (SAN), has described the establishment of the Multi-Door Courthouse and Mediation Centres in the state as some of the landmark achievements of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
Speaking with journalists while assessing the governor’s three years in office, the Attorney General said the administration has recorded remarkable progress in strengthening the judicial sector and improving access to justice across Kano State.
According to him, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of the judiciary by sponsoring about 200 law students with registration fees exceeding N500,000 each.
He further stated that the state now boasts of a functional Multi-Door Courthouse and Mediation Centres, established with the full support of the governor to promote alternative dispute resolution and reduce delays in the administration of justice.
Maude noted that the administration has also invested heavily in capacity building through workshops and training programmes for judicial staff and judges, while outstanding allowances of judges have been settled.
The Commissioner added that the government provided laptops, uninterrupted internet services, and solar-powered facilities to enhance the efficiency and productivity of judicial officers.
He also disclosed that new High Court judges were appointed to strengthen the justice delivery system, while several courts were constructed in both urban and rural communities to bring justice closer to the people.
According to him, the welfare of inmates in correctional centres has equally improved under the present administration through enhanced feeding arrangements and other support programmes.
“Within three years, this administration has achieved more than many expected in the justice sector. The governor has shown unwavering commitment to the rule of law and judicial independence,” he said.
The Attorney General therefore urged the people of Kano State to continue supporting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressing optimism that a second term would enable the administration to consolidate on its achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
He prayed for the continued success of the governor’s administration, saying Kano residents have greatly benefited from his wealth of experience and people-oriented leadership.
