Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, arrived at Sultan Abubakar All International Airport, Sokoto, Tuesday.
Bello, who was accompanied by the Nigerian Army Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, was received at Sokoto State.
They are in Sokoto in preparation to plush out terrorists and armed bandits in the region that comprises Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states.
It could be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Defence Minister of State, the Chief of Defence Staff and other military chiefs to move to Sokoto, which is the Headquarters of the GOC Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi States along with the Ministry of Defence.
The decision is part of an intensified effort by the Federal Government to rid the North West of the menace of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other crimes in the region.
The Minister who was the former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammad (Mutawallen Maradun) is also along with the National Security Adviser, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Major General E.A.P Undiandeye, are in Sokoto State as part of their efforts to address the security challenges facing the state and other parts of the North.
