Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has sworn in four new commissioners, warning them that his administration would not tolerate misconduct, abuse of office or any breach of public trust.
The governor said the appointments followed the voluntary resignation of some members of the State Executive Council who stepped down to pursue their political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Muhammad explained that the new commissioners were selected from the same local government areas as their predecessors to maintain balanced representation, adding that the appointments were based on competence, experience and credibility.
The governor also announced the redeployment of some commissioners, including Adamu Babayo Gabarin to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to Rural Development and Special Duties, and Muhammad Hamisu Shira to Finance and Economic Development.
He added that Hassan El-Yakub and Usman Usman would retain their positions as commissioners overseeing the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
Governor Muhammad charged the new appointees to quickly familiarise themselves with government policies and work closely with permanent secretaries and other career civil servants to achieve set objectives.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements since assuming office in 2019, the governor cited investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, security and youth empowerment.
He said the interventions had contributed to the transformation of Bauchi State and positioned it among the fastest-growing economies in the North-East.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to implement people-oriented projects until the end of its tenure, with focus on infrastructure development, job creation and human capital development.
He reiterated his commitment to accountability, stressing that public funds entrusted to government officials must be used strictly for programmes and projects that improve the lives of citizens.
Muhammad reminded the new commissioners that public office is subject to constant scrutiny and urged them to uphold due process and ensure prudent management of resources.
The oath of office and oath of allegiance were administered by the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Talatu Umar.
The newly sworn-in commissioners are Madaki Ahmed Gololo (Gamawa), Bashir Ya’u (Katagum), Bashir Adamu Rishi (Toro), and Alhaji Baraya Ibrahim (Warji).
Their assigned portfolios are:
Madaki Ahmed Gololo — Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives
Bashir Ya’u — Ministry of Youth and Sports Development
Bashir Adamu Rishi — Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management
Alhaji Baraya Ibrahim — Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated commissioners, Alhaji Baraya Ibrahim thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their loyalty and commitment to the administration.
He assured that they would discharge their duties diligently, uphold the law and contribute to the continued development of Bauchi State.
Baraya also commended the administration’s infrastructure projects across the state, saying visible development could be seen in virtually every part of Bauchi.
