The Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Umar Muhammad Shira, has been elected unopposed as Chairman of Zone B of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
The election was confirmed in a letter signed by BON Executive Secretary, Yemisi Bamgbose, who informed Shira of his emergence as the new zonal chairman.
According to the letter, “This is to inform you that you have been elected unopposed as the Zonal Chairman, Zone B of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).”
Bamgbose congratulated the new chairman and expressed confidence that his tenure would consolidate the achievements of his predecessors while promoting unity among BON member stations in the zone.
She also stated that the outgoing chairman, in collaboration with the BON Head Office, would communicate the date and venue for the inauguration.
Umar Muhammad Shira, an experienced broadcasting professional from Bauchi State, currently serves as the Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation.
He was appointed by Governor Bala Mohammed in recognition of his professionalism and commitment to the media industry.
Since assuming office, Shira has reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to upholding the Nigerian Broadcasting Code and promoting ethical, balanced, and professional broadcasting.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Shira on his election, describing it as well deserved, and wished him a successful tenure and continued service to the nation.
