From Muawuya Bala Idris, Katsina

The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the People Redemption Party (PRP) in Katsina state, Imrana Jino, has vowed to sue the Federal Government and Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) over the lingering national grid collapse that has plunged Northern Nigeria into darkness.

Jino, who contested during the 2023 election, said himself and other Northerners will push for payment of compensation to those affected by the power blackout.

He made the threats while briefing newsmen in Katsina state, stressing that the total blackout has crippled business activities and caused financial damage to hundreds of individuals.

His words: “The total blackout has forced the closure of the many scale business and sent hundreds of young men into labour market”

He further said, “The total blackout is part of the design to cripple the entire economy of the north and to create more hardship for its people.

“We will hold the federal government and the TCN responsible for this failure and fight for payment of compensation to those affected by the total blackout,” he maintained.

He called on those affected by the blackout or those who suffered damage to register their information on his social media platform.

According to him, very soon, some volunteers will visit the state to reach out to the victims.

He assured me that they would gather all the information as exhibits and head to the court.
