A wave of protests has swept across the Niger Delta State in response to a significant increase in fuel prices.
Residents and activists are expressing growing discontent and frustration over the economic burden imposed by the rising fuel prices.
DW Hausa Service reports that a cross-section of the protesters has been sighted blocking major streets of the state including the road that links Warri and Sapele.
Nigerians woke up on Tuesday to see a change in the pump prices, from around N600 to N855/litre, M918/litre and above, depending on the area of purchase at NNPC stations nationwide.
Many argue that the increase disproportionately affects low-income communities and exacerbates existing socioeconomic challenges.
The protests have raised concerns about the potential for further unrest and disruptions if the government fails to address the grievances.
