From Joseph Asegba, Yola

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained investment in education, healthcare, and child welfare, describing children as the nation’s greatest assets.

The governor made the pledge in a statement issued in Yola to commemorate the 2026 Children’s Day celebration themed: “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child.”

The statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, stressed the need to support and encourage children to attain their full potential.

Governor Fintiri noted that the true character of any society is reflected in the way it treats its children, adding that every child deserves protection, quality education, and a life free from violence and abuse.

He said his administration had continued to improve the education sector through the provision of better learning environments, upgrading of facilities, and motivation of teachers across the state.

“Adamawa State has done a lot to improve education through better learning environments, upgraded facilities, and teacher motivation. The administration is prioritising the allocation of resources to areas that directly affect children,” the governor stated.

Speaking on healthcare, Fintiri explained that deliberate efforts had been made to ensure adequate immunisation for children and to tackle malaria, measles, and other childhood diseases.

According to him, the government is also empowering families to enable children access quality healthcare and education.

The governor stressed that the future of children should never be taken lightly, describing them as the leaders of tomorrow.

He therefore called on governments, communities, and stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children and helping them realise their full potential.

He further stated that educating children must remain one of society’s most urgent priorities.

“We all know that education, more than anything else, improves the chances of building a better life,” he added.

Fintiri also urged governments and communities to protect children from neglect, abuse, and degradation, noting that ensuring their safety requires collective commitment and sustained public investment.
