The Amalgamated Association of Fruits, Food Items and Beverages has commended the visit of the Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle, to Zamfara State, saying the two-day trip helped restore normalcy and improved business activities across the state.

The group’s chairman, Malam Hamisu Lawal ‘Yankuzo, disclosed this while addressing supporters in Gusau.

He noted that commercial activities picked up significantly during the visit, with traders returning to markets and sourcing goods from neighbouring towns.

According to him, the presence of the minister boosted residents’ confidence, leading to increased patronage and a drop in the prices of commodities.

‘Yankuzo contrasted the development with the current situation under the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration, stressing that Matawalle’s accessibility and leadership style remain highly valued by many residents.

He urged the former governor to contest again, saying the people of the state were eager for his return due to what he described as his effective governance and commitment to public welfare.

The association, popularly known as Tsayi da Kafafunsu, pledged to mobilise support for Matawalle should he declare interest in the governorship race.
