Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri urged Muslims to follow the exemplary virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) which centre on peace and unity while celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.

The Governor stated this while speaking in Shelleng town after observing the two raka’at supererogatory prayers in commemoration of the 2024 Eid-El-Kabir Sallah celebration.

He said, “Promoting peaceful coexistence and tolerance in the society will be a driving force that would overcome the current insecurity bedevilling the country.”

The Governor also urged citizens to continue to pray for leaders and the nation at large, lamenting the inflation across the country, but optimistic that things will soon be better.

Governor Fintiri joined Amna Shelleng, HRH Dr Abdullahi Isa Dasong to observe this year’s Eid-El Kabir prayers in Shelleng LGA alongside thousands congregation of Muslim faithful.

He was accompanied by Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Hon Awwal D Tukur, PDP state chairman Barr AT Shehu, and other top government functionaries to observe the Eid prayer.

Governor Fintiri in an interview with the journalists said, “We thank Almighty Allah, we are grateful that we have lived and witnessed another Eid-El Kabir. This time, the year 2024 is our prayer that we follow the teaching of our prophet Muhammad SAW, that we pray for peace, we pray for security, we know Nigerians are going through hardships, but we hope with prayers there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“This is our wish for Nigerians and it’s a time to come together, to work together with our leaders and to also coexist, this is the only way out.

“This is only Nigeria shall rise and be great again,” The governor concluded.”

In his sermon after leading the prayers, Chief Imam Mallam Rilwanu Dankaka spoke on the significance of Eid-El-Kabir and enumerated categories of healthy prescribed animals for sacrifice.

Imam Dankaka then offered Special prayers for tranquillity in the country.”

Also celebrating is the Hon Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Yayaji Mijinawa has felicitated with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the people across the state on the occasion of the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In his statement, the Commissioner congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah in the state for witnessing yet another occasion of Eid-el-Adha.

The Director General, of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) in Adamawa state, Michael Zira also facilitated Gov Ahmaadu Umaru Fintiri and entire Adamawa Muslims on the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement made available to The Triumph, the DG urged Muslims across the state to imbibe the lesson of sacrifices that the Eid-el-Kabir symbolizes for abundant reward from Allah, the Almighty.

Zira describes Eid-el-Kabir as a great occasion for Muslims, calling on the faithful to not only rededicate themselves to the service of their creator but spread love and sacrifice to foster peaceful coexistence

He noted: “I want to use this period to celebrate our Muslim brothers and sisters on this occasion. We all have a responsibility to our creator. It is important we use this period and come closer to God and seek for his beneficent blessings.”

Mr Zira used the period to reassure the people of Adamawa State of his unequivocal commitment, as the new DG of PAWECA, to discharge his duties effectively, to address poverty drastically.

DG restated the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of youths and women, as according to him, Governor Fintiri is keen to address restiveness in the society and make the state a hub for economic activities.

This celebration has Honourables, Commissioners of Ministries for Health and Water Resources Hon. Felix Tangwami and Audu Ayuba Tanko who extended their warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah for witnessing the 2024 Eid El Kabir Sallah celebration.

Audu, Tamgwami send their greetings to Adamawa State Governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Lamido Adamawa, His Royal Highness Dr Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, PhD, CFR a grand Patron of the Tapital Pulaku worldwide and prayed Allah’s blessings, guidance, long life and wisdom.

They reminded Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithful the need to live a life of sacrifice, an injunction by Allah that characterizes the Eid El Kabir.

The duo said the instruction by God to Abraham to sacrifice his son and he obeyed it’s an injunction that symbolizes love, giving and unity of purpose.
