From Umar Danladi Ado, Sokoto

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and avoid being misled by desperate politicians.

In a Sallah goodwill message to the people, Governor Idris noted that the state has continued to enjoy relative peace and unity, which he said has contributed to the successful execution of impactful developmental projects.

According to a statement issued by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Governor, Idris warned that as the political season builds up towards the 2027 general elections, some ambitious politicians may resort to deception and empty promises to mislead voters.

He, however, expressed confidence that the electorate has become more politically aware and would judge candidates based on credibility, integrity, and track record rather than propaganda or unfulfilled promises.

The Governor acknowledged existing challenges, particularly insecurity and inadequate electricity supply, but assured that his administration is committed to addressing them.

He reaffirmed the readiness of the APC-led government in the state to do everything humanly possible to overcome the challenges.

He also noted that insecurity is not peculiar to Kebbi State and disclosed that his administration has already provided support including over 100 Hilux vehicles and more than 7,000 motorcycles to security agencies to enhance their operations.

Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their continued support and confidence in his leadership, adding that his administration has recorded unprecedented development across all sectors.

He also appreciated traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, and organized labour for their cooperation and support.

On electricity supply challenges, the Governor assured that his administration remains committed to supporting the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), stating that about N1 billion has already been spent on equipment purchase and maintenance.

However, he regretted that the efforts have not yet produced the desired results.

To address the issue, he announced the formation of a high-powered committee comprising technocrats and reputable professionals to investigate the root causes and recommend lasting solutions.

Governor Idris appealed to residents to remain patient and continue praying for divine intervention.

He also recalled that he has been endorsed alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
