The Katsina State Government has distributed financial assistance to 150 persons with special needs across Katsina Zone as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on People with Special Needs, retired Lieutenant Hudu Usman, disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony of the distribution exercise held at the conference hall of Katsina Teachers College (KTC) in Katsina metropolis.

He explained that each beneficiary received N10,000 under an intervention initiated by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda to cushion the economic hardship faced by vulnerable persons, particularly during the Sallah period.

According to him, the beneficiaries were carefully selected from among the most vulnerable groups, including widows and persons with young children, to enable them meet their basic needs during the festive season.

Retired Lt. Hudu Usman added that the current phase of the programme covers beneficiaries from Katsina Zone, expressing optimism that similar support would be extended to persons with special needs in Daura and Funtua zones after the Sallah celebration.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Fatima Alhassan of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, popularly known as “Uwar Marayu,” commended the state government and the office of the Special Adviser for sustaining support programmes for persons with special needs.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government for the gesture and pledged their continued support for the administration in appreciation of its humanitarian interventions.
