As the Muslim faithful will be observing Eid-ui-Maulud tomorrow, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has put in place proactive security measures to ensure a hitch-free and peaceful celebration across the state.

The CP has already drawn out an effective security plan for the event by improving the operational assets of the Command and deploying all Tactical Teams, such as the PMF, CTU, EOD and Anti-Kidnaping Unit (AKU), to nip crime in the bud.

The known was made in an official statement signed and issued to newsmen in Jos on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Alfred Alabo.

He said, “In adherence to the CP’s directive, deployment of conventional Police operatives to strategic locations across the state to provide safety has also been carried out.

“The general public is hereby, urged to be vigilant, report any suspicious activity and cooperate with the Police and other security officials deployed to maintain peace and order.

“The security will be at all prayer houses, playing grounds, recreational parks, and other public places within the state has been prioritized with a high concentration of Police operatives to ensure a peaceful Eid-ui-Maulud.

“The Command also wishes to call on parents and guardians to play their part in ensuring that their children and wards do not engage in drug/substance abuse and all other forms of anti-social activities that could affect the festivity and plunge them into trouble.”

According to the statement, a ban on the sale and purchase of fireworks, such as knockouts and other explosive devices, is still enforceable.

Also, the Command has today the 16th of September, 2024, imposed a ban on the operation of commercial tricycles known as ‘Keke Napep, while the total ban on the activities of motorcycles popularly known as (Okada or going) is still enforced within Jos and Bukuru Metropolis

The Commissioner of Police wishes all residents of Plateau State a peaceful and joyous Eid-ui-Maulud celebration in advance.
