The Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, has commended the Kebbi State Government under Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris for its free distribution of farming inputs, describing the initiative as the most impactful agricultural intervention for farmers in the state in recent years.
The Emir made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team at his palace in Zuru, according to a statement issued by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor.
The media team is on an advocacy and assessment tour to evaluate the administration’s programmes and seek royal advice on strategies for sustainable socio-economic development across the state.
Speaking during the visit, Alhaji Sami Gomo III said the initiative would benefit not only farmers but also marketers, transporters, agro-allied industries, and consumers by boosting agricultural production and economic activities.
“Considering the large quantity and variety of farm produce expected, this intervention will go a long way in providing legitimate and beneficial business opportunities for all stakeholders in the agricultural value chain,” the Emir said.
While praising the programme, the monarch called for an improvement in the distribution process to ensure greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
“There is a need to establish a committee of people with proven integrity, honesty, and selfless service to ensure the inputs reach the doorsteps of His Excellency’s intended beneficiaries,” he added.
The Emir also expressed gratitude to the state government for providing modern vehicles to his office and to the five chiefdoms within the Zuru Emirate.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, who led the delegation comprising four Special Advisers and the Chief Press Secretary, said the visit was aimed at assessing the performance of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration and seeking the guidance of traditional rulers on programmes that would promote sustainable development across Kebbi State.
