The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, has called on employers across the country to embrace data-driven solutions to enhance workplace safety and health.

Faleye made the call in a keynote address delivered at the ongoing training on Enhanced Occupational Safety and Health, taking place at the Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Fund, Faleye said the ever-evolving nature of workplace environments demands proactive safety measures rather than routine regulatory compliance.

“That is why this programme introduces automated Occupational Safety and Health strategies, tools, and systems that will not only elevate productivity but also save lives,” he said.

Highlighting the significance of the training, the NSITF boss noted, “It marks the bold steps we are taking as an institution, and indeed as a nation, towards safer, smarter, and more sustainable workplaces.”

He added that the programme reflects the Fund’s ongoing push to build capacity, drive digital transformation, and integrate global best practices in occupational health and safety into Nigeria’s workforce culture.

Faleye, who was represented by the General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment Department, Mr. Tony Eke, disclosed that NSITF has already digitised its operations and the training is aimed at ensuring that stakeholders are carried along in the transformation journey.

“This initiative speaks to the very heart of our commitment at NSITF—to protect, preserve, and promote the dignity and well-being of every Nigerian worker,” he said.

The training, organised in collaboration with Beam Box Projects and Consulting Services Limited, runs for four days and is the first in a series of three trainings sponsored by the Fund.

The two other programmes include Driving Workplace Safety from a Compliant Perspective to a Profit-Driven Perspective, facilitated by Surez Global Resources Nigeria Limited, and Technology and Safeware Skills: Excel Skills for Data Analytics and Visualization, led by Sky Quest Concept Limited.

All three sessions are being held concurrently in Ibadan and are part of the NSITF’s broader effort to fulfil its mandate of promoting workplace health and safety across Nigeria.
