The Federal Ministry of Education has commended the Yobe State Government for its achievements in basic education delivery.

In a statement by Mamman Muhammad, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the commendation was contained in a special letter personally signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and conveyed to the governor.

“I write to convey the commendation of Your Excellency’s unwavering commitment to advancing the basic education sector in Yobe State. Your proactive approach is exemplary and reflects a sustained prioritisation of foundational education as a catalyst for development,” the minister wrote.

He praised the state for ensuring that over 967,301 children of basic education age have access to learning, noting that Yobe had fully accessed its 2024 Universal Basic Education matching grant.

The recognition comes as three Yobe girls — Nafisa Abdullah, Rukayya Muhammad Fema, and Khadija Kashim — emerged world champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, which had 20,000 participants from 69 countries.

Buni said the commendation would serve as motivation to achieve greater results, thanking teachers, parents, and other stakeholders for supporting the government’s education policies and programmes.
