The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and the New Year, respectively.

This announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity during this festive season. He highlighted the importance of the Christmas period as a time for spiritual reflection and national renewal.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal,” Tunji-Ojo said. “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences.”

The Minister also called on Nigerians to strengthen familial and community bonds, fostering harmony that would contribute to the country’s continued development. He reassured citizens that the government remains dedicated to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity throughout the nation.

Looking ahead, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence in the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he believes will guide Nigeria toward a more prosperous future in 2025.

The Minister concluded his statement with a heartfelt wish for a joyful and peaceful holiday season for all Nigerians.
