From Maawuya Bala Idris, Katsina

The World Food Programme( WFP) in collaboration with the Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF), has distributed1963 metric tonnes of wheat to some communities across Katsina state.

The benefitting communities are from across five local government areas of the state, which include Kurfi, Dutsinma, Batsari, Safana and Dan-Musa local government respectively.

Speaking at the launch of the distribution tagged the ‘Ukrainian Wheat Distribution Programme’, the Katsina field officer of Africa Youth Growth Foundation, Timothy Ugudu, disclosed that the program gets 86,389 beneficiaries across the five local governments.

He noted that these five local governments were selected based on their vulnerability to insecurity and food insecurity.

Also speaking, the Executive- Director of Africa Youth Growth Foundation, Dr. Aremu Salifu, noted that the foundation is working to ensure that nobody is left out of the programme.

Dr Salifu, therefore, asked religious and community leaders for their support for the programme.

In her remarks, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the state governor on sustainable development goals, Barrister Maryam Sodangi, appreciated the efforts of the foundation in supporting the state.

She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting any programme or initiative that will enhance good security in the state.

The wheat distributed to the selected communities would cover three months.
